Plot |
|
In 1912, Richard
Hannay, a Mining Engineer who has spent most of his life in South
Africa, returns to England. But he's far from finding peace in England!
|
The Ally |
 |
This
is the first episode we get introduced to Hannay's best friend Reggie
Armitage, who works for the Ministry. But we also have the delight of
having Charles Gray as a guest star. He portrays Commander Neville, who
suspects Hannay is the author of two crimes (don't worry, just bad
guys). |
|
The "Hannay
Girl" |
 |
In the
books, Hannay marries a named Lady Anne. So maybe we've just met the
future Mrs. Hannay!
I
liked very much Lady Anne, because she embodies an independant and
courageous woman (she even drives and repairs cars, wow!). Thanks to
her talents, she's able to help Hannay to discover Von Schwabing's
secret plot.
|
|
The Bad Guy |
 |
The
bad guys are from The Fellowship of the Black Stone, but we only meet
the leader Count Von Schwabing, who's going to be Hannay's headache for
most of the season!
OK, going to the point, the Fellowship wants to destroy at any price the
British / Russian Peace Alliance (See Voyage Into Fear). |

Comments |
You
will notice that most of the episodes written by Michael Robson are the
best! This one is a very good one to start with the series and
introduce key characters and the plot that will be the center of almost
all the episodes : Europe before the war.
